Business Development Specialist

Based in South Africa, the Business Development Specialist is responsible for generating new business and revenue across South Africa and other African countries, working closely with the Business Development Team and Client facing teams based in Mauritius for the onboarding of new clients. The main objective is to identify, develop and implement business development initiatives as well as campaigns to introduce new clients to BTG and cross/up sell to our current client base.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Implement the defined sales and business development strategy and promote the offerings of BTG Management Services Ltd.
  • Build BTG’s market position to generate quality sales leads via attendance and participation at industry events, hosted events, thought leadership articles, press releases and client newsletters.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities through core client portfolio and with new clients.
  • Closely monitor new business development opportunities, utilise market knowledge and market intelligence tools to identify projects which are aligned to the company strategies.
  • Maintain BD pipeline information, call reports, proposal templates, service / fee proposals and related financial analysis.
  • Attend client meetings to develop an understanding of the potential client, to identify service opportunities and to assist them in managing businesses which are aligned to our services.
  • Liaise with clients and provide supervision relating to client onboarding forms and KYC requirements/CDD, ensure regular follow-up is done for timely submission and in conformity with the AML/CFT requirements.
  • Build strong relationships with existing or prospective corporate clients and all other stakeholders with the goal of acquiring them as a long-term referral partners.
  • Support contract negotiations for business development and contract renewals.
  • Provide professional expertise and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to proactively address any queries or requests arising.
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders including clients, compliance department or other business units and external partners, ensuring all working processes and procedures are in compliance with statutory bodies and client files are organised and completed.
  • Train and develop team members to continually improve their performance and ability to meet and/or exceed business needs and targets, ensuring that the required standards are being maintained.
  • Building end leads an effective and cohesive team culture.
  • Prepare and give new business reviews to the management through timely reports.
    Identify and contribute to the mitigation of risks. Report any issues to EXCOM in a timely manner.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Professionally Qualified Chartered Accountant plus Bachelor’s Degree
  • Awareness of principles of taxation in different jurisdictions (especially Mauritius and South Africa)
  • 3- 5 years’ at managerial/senior position level
